Fine Art Printing arrives at the Carriage House!

Category: Miscadmin @ 9:07 am

Wednesday (April 14th): 7pm to 10pm

As a photographer you can increase your profit from a wedding, portrait assignment, model portfolio or fine art print by printing the work yourself and increasing the scale and size…

To offer this possiblity to members of the Carriage House Studio and Gallery, we now have on-line a brand new state of the art Epson 9900 wide carriage (44″) printer. The printer will produce photographic (or reproductions of paintings – glicee) in life size, or to full wall size! As you have seen in high end galleries, these large images sell for $1,000 or more… Of course we also continue to offer the Epson 3800 19″ printer for smaller size requirements (model or actor’s portfolios…)

With the top of line papers now available from Hahnemuehle, Ilford, and Crane Museo, you
can now offer you images to clients with the same archival quality used at the Corcoran Gallery and photographers such as Annie Leibovitz!

To keep the cost of printing attractive, and learn how to price and use this printing to maximum benefit, we have an experienced professional printer (Ashleigh) who will be providing instructional classes on how to use the printer.

Workshop Program:

The workshop is designed to teach you what you need to know to set up and operate a digital printer for your clients in wedding, portrait or fine art photography.

Completion of the workshop is a requirement to be able to use the on-site printers.

Topic covered include:

- Sizing, budgeting and pricing your prints for profit

- Profiling and preparing files for printing

- Choices of papers and other medium for printing

- Working with a master printer

- Operation and maintenance of the printer

- Participants should bring an image of their own on USB or disc to do a sample print.

Instruction will be with Epson 3880 and 9900 printers, capable of producing life size prints ( 3 ft by 5 ft / 4 ft by 6 ft, or custom dimensions).

Cost: $25 for workshop plus $10 materials fee.

Workshop Limited to 10 participants

Washingtonian Magazine – Spring Fashion shoot at The Carriage House

Category: Miscadmin @ 10:44 pm

March was a great month as we had two firsts at the Carriage House!

At the beginning of the month, the studio was rented by the Washingtonian Magazine to do the fashion shoot for a story on men’s fashion and suits, so that a number of local celebrities visited the studio (Devon McTavish – DC United, Howard Yoon – literary agent, Jay Hutchins – Executive Director Professional Liscencing Boards,  Tony Reali – Host ESPN’s Around the Horn, Peter Cherukuri – General Manager Huffington Post, Christopher Boutlier – Interior Designer.   You can see images from the shoot at the following link:

We also hosted a genuine New Orleans Burlesque review with dancer/mode Zoya Pepel at our monthly Open House – as one of the the photographers present commented – “What are you going to do to top this!” Zoya was in such demand she is returning to Washington DC from June 8 to 12th, and is booking shoots (zoyapepel@gmail.com) at the studio for the very reasonable rate of $95/hr, which includes the use of the studio. You can see Zoya’s portfolio at One Model Place – http://www.onemodelplace.com/member.cfm?ID=403904.
