We are pleased to announce our next Figurative/Fine Art Nude Photography Course at the Carriage House in 2012/2013!
Session A: Fall / Winter (Sep – Feb)
Session B: Winter / Spring (Feb – July)
Description: Here is your opportunity to in a short period of time (6 months) develop an complete, diverse and high quality portfolio of figurative and fine art nude images. We have designed the course to provide you with the key elements you need to develop your craft as a photographer that is both efficient in the use of your time, and an excellent value. The course includes the critical elements of guided instruction, first rate professional models, digital workflow, all in a studio environment with the equipment and props that will you assist you in creating a great portfolio.
Topics to Covered: A series of 6 monthly thematic workshops (4 hrs each – 1 hour lecture/discussion followed by 3 hours of photo shoot) including: i) Lighting the Nude, ii) Bodyscapes, iii) Abstract Nudes, iv) Nudes in Nature, v) Boudoir Photography, and vi) Two Models: Girl/Girl. The program also includes a monthly one on one photo session for each photographer with an emerging local fine art nude model at the Carriage House Studio (Mon. to Fri. between 9 and 5 pm.) At the end of the workshop series you will participate in a professional portfolio review of your work, and will be asked to select 4 images to be exhibited in a gallery exhibit at the Carriage House.
Models: All models are top national and international models such as those who have been featured at the Carriage House during 2009 – 2012, including: Ariel,Trishii, Isabella V, Katya, Engel Schrei, Stephanie Grant, and others as may be appropriate for specific workshops. Working with models of this quality will help you build a strong portfolio quickly, develop good skills in directing models, and quickly gain credibility with other professional or emerging models.
Course Includes: i) 6 workshops on topics in figurative/fine art nude photography, ii) 6 one-on-one photo sessions in studio with a nude model, iii) 2 sessions on digital workflow for fine art nude photography, iv) portfolio review at conclusion of workshop series, v) printing and gallery exhibition of your 4 best images (40” by 30”) and vi) optional participation in a twice a year, fine art nude workshop in Prague, Czech Republic (additional cost).
Course Pre-requisite/Class Size: Participants must have previously taken the Basic Studio Lighting workshop at the Carriage House or have equivalent experience. Class size will be limited to 6 students to allow ample opportunity for interaction between the student and instructor, models and other participants.
Scheduling: Class meetings will generally be held on Sunday afternoons from 2 until 6, or alternatively on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 10 pm (subject to travel schedules/availability of visiting models). The monthly one on one photo sessions with emerging local models will be scheduled between 9 am and 5 pm Monday through Friday.
Substitution/Optional Workshops: The Carriage House will offer additional optional workshops and photo sessions with visiting models during the year. Course participants who are unable to attend one of the scheduled workshops may substitute up to two (2) of these optional events for regularly scheduled course sessions by paying a $50 fee per workshop.
Cost: $2495 (a total of 50 hours of class time including 36 hours of session time with 12 models, and 14 hours of lecture/instruction)
Terms of Payment: Registration is required with a $45 deposit to reserve your enrollment. An $250 initial non-refundable payment is due before the first workshop, followed by six monthly payments due by the 5th of the month of $300 each. A final payment of $400 is due at the end of the last workshop and covers the fees for printing and exhibition of 4 photographs at 30” by 40” or larger.
